Seed to Tree(S2T) - Centre for Personal Development - [S2T English]
Why Seed2Tree – the need
China’s switch from a planned to market-economy; its one-child policy and urbanization of the population, amongst other major life-changing policies and trends, have had serious repercussions on today’s modern Chinese lifestyles. The sense of displacement and elevated levels of stress to meet the changing pressures from the outside world exacerbated by the never-ending chase of (and ever-increasing need for) material wealth has led many to feel anxious, depress, helpless and even hopeless.
This rapid pace of change will only give rise to more new and challenging dilemmas. Unfortunately, the increased availability of massive quantity of information is not matched by a personal or public capacity to reflect upon and make sense of it.
It’s clear that we need to grow and become ourselves the kind of people who are able to respond thoughtfully to change. With such a vast and wonderful repository of information and knowledge spread out before us, we might well have encountered the Greatest Insight that would have transformed us had we savored, taken it to heart, and worked it into our lives. But it’d appear that, the sheer quantity has undermined the quality of our engagement.
Seed2treeHow can we make a difference and help facilitate this growth process? How can we in helping others learn and improve to fulfill their potential, develop our own strengths and virtues so we can continue to be relevant and make a difference?
Seed2tree aims to help people develop. To continue and enjoy learning – to not just have access to new knowledge, but more importantly, a forum to reflect, question and discuss, and a network of people to consult, improve and grow alongside.
We think of personal development as an opportunity to learn, to improve, to grow and to be of service, for the betterment of ourselves, our family, our community and society at large. We believe this makes life meaningful, rich and our world more beautiful.
The process
We actively seek out relevant courses and insightful facilitators and connect them to the people – from those curious about learning and growth, to those desperately seeking solutions to the challenges they’re facing. We follow through each course with a series of facilitated sessions to clarify, encourage and support application and internalization.
We ask how new knowledge/principles/concepts relate to you as a person. The content from each course is useful in a variety of contexts. How might it be relevant to what you’re facing or doing or help you be more effective? We promote inquiry, creativity and discussion in a spirit of equality, humility, hope and mutual respect. Through participation and investigation of truth, we create and recreate the new realities and possibilities.
We look forward to smaller groups spawning spontaneously, each drawn together by common interests and can in the longer run, develop organically into a meaningful mutually-supportive circle of friends.
